Their childhood tradition of manhunt had to happen one last time before these twelve friends went their separate ways for college. And that is why this final game had to be monumental- brand new place, same old rules. This was going to be a game to remember.
Actually, let's go back and clarify that a bit. Friends probably isn't the most appropriate term. It's more like a hodgepodge of individuals comprising of some jocks, a few tree-hugging hippies, a couple of academic nerds, and probably one or two drug-induced individuals. Most of their childhood, it seemed inevitable something would go terribly wrong, as personalities continually clashed. Yet everyone always managed to get along, or at least not kill each other, but that's something, right?
Then on the night of August 23, everything changed, because that is the night their historic, final game of manhunt turned real. One friend decided to take matters into their own hands, murdering those that showed any indication they were aware of the person's soiled past. This was their last chance to clear their dirty tracks before everyone split for college.
Through the eyes of Florenza Goldberg, a recent high-school graduate about to embark on her new adventure at Red Valley Community College, it is clear nothing like this has been done before. She was already confused about nearly every aspect of her life, and that was before the game that would transform her future.
With clues placed at every dead body, it is up to Florenza to solve the mystery of this deadly mess. She must overcome her stubborn spirit in order to mend some impaired friendships to save herself and her friends before they don't survive to see college.
So essentially, everyone is screwed.

K.T. D'Angelo captured my attention from the first page. Every single time I figured out "whodunit" the plot twisted and really kept me going. I loved all the Jersey references since they're so relatable. My boys played manhunt but this story really elevated the game to outrageous levels. Thoroughly enjoyed the book. Rarely do I find a book that draws me in from the first page but this book was captivating and intrigued me from page one. I couldn't put it down. As the story unfolded there were twists and turns which made me want to jump to the end to find out the truth but I'm glad I didn't because I would have missed so much of the well thought out plot!
As a NJ resident I loved the local references! Looking forward to KT's next one!
This novel, a first by the author, is more than just a scary story. The novel is an artfully crafted combination of humor, fear, suspense, nostalgia, and hope. Descriptions and character development in this book are indicative of an incredibly insightful and observant writer, and the twists and turns are tribute to the author's incredible imagination. This book is a gift to anyone who has ever felt uncertain at the end, and a comfort to anyone who is looking for a new beginning.
This book was entertaining from beginning to end and will keep your interest if you are a fan of mysteries. It follows a group of high school friends on one last fun filled game of manhunt. Fans of mysteries will love this new title as it combines an intriguing story with tons of great characters who does not know whom they can really trust. The characters will be relatable to many young readers. Fans of mystery books should check out this title. Overall, an exciting read that even reluctant readers will enjoy.
