Extremely confusing. Granted I have not read the other books but I go through paragraphs of 'he she him her' with no explanation of who the person is. The start of my current paragraph says he and she.. who???I may not be able to finish this book.

Spending time in Cane River has me not only wanting to go back and read the beginning books in this series but to stroll down the streets, visit the book shop and help out with the sand bags! I love that the books and songs mentioned have a bibliography and that the recipes are included-I'm making fat man's misery for our next potluck
Friendship, love, it's all a risk. They really should put a warning sign on those apartments. Ms. Hathaway always impresses me with her great character development. Rem and Flannery are such great friends. Is it really worth the risk of losing that to get more? The book is definitely worth the read to find out.
This last book in the series was so much fun! It was great to see all of the previous couples in the series, especially Charlie and Austin since their story was so brief. I also thought the opening scene of Paul holding Alice in bed while they talked with the rain coming down outside was so romantic and adorable.. Now that I've written that, I worry about prudish people freaking out. I'm a Christian, so believe me, I'm talking about a completely sweet and innocent scene between two married people. (Yes, married Christians cuddle in bed - shocker!) Seriously, though, this was a wonderful end to the Cane River series. I highly recommend reading them all. The third one about Charlie and Austin is actually a novella, so don't be disappointed by its brevity. Keep reading, because the fourth book was a hilarious (my personal favorite), and every single one was hard for me to put down. I actually was searching hoping she has a seventh one coming out!
I wanted to like this book so much more than I did. I loved the others in the series and I enjoyed catching up with the characters from the previous stories but it was just overwhelming to me to switch back and forth between all of the different characters. I ended up skimming most of the last half of the novel. It may be because it's been so long since I read the first novels in the series. I do recommend it but read the other novels first as I don't really consider this one a stand alone.
Once more MJ Hathaway has written a inspiring, interesting story in the Cane River Series. A terrific story about friendship and love, of stubbornness and fear, of putting aside fear to reach for the future. Once again we get to visit the By the Book and visit with all the characters that work and visit the bookstore. Thanks for a sweet story of faith and love!
I’m so grateful I found this book for a free download. I might never have read this author otherwise! I now know that this is one in a series, so this book has scenes from multiple perspectives as couples featured previously get featured. I love these characters. I love their passion for books across a variety of genres. I love how they have each faced challenges and learned how to move forward. I love how they have learned and are learning about leaning on others as needed. I love that this book is set in Louisiana and that it has some unusual weather. And I love how the main characters overthink something so important and still are completely blind until the end.
I was excited to read this book because it’s set in my home state and I go to Natchitoches quite a bit. However, my excitement was replaced with annoyance rather quickly. I’ve never enjoyed people meddling with others lives and this book is chock full of that.
Everyone and their brother in this town seems to know what’s best for the main love interests and is determined to get them together come hell or (quite literally in this book) high water. A lot of time is devoted to other characters in the series that seemed unnecessary, but I’m sure longtime fans enjoyed it.

I sped read the rest of this book just to get to the expected happy ending. Surprise, of course they’ve loved each other all this time and just didn’t realize it until now. This could almost be a Hallmark Christmas special but there’s just not enough plot to sink my teeth into.
P.S. Another thing that annoyed me was the guy from high school that asked out the girl. Everyone treated him like he had the plague. At least he had the guts to go for her, unlike the other guy. (Sorry, I can’t remember their names. That’s how forgettable this book is for me.)
